Hillcrest Elementary Science Fair

This web site is intended for the students and parents at Hillcrest Elementary School in Ogden, Utah. However, I hope that others will gain some value from it too. It contains suggestions and links for elementary level Science Fair activities. The email link at the bottom is intended only for Hillcrest Elementary, I do not have the time or resources to answer questions about Science Fair for the entire World Wide Web of people. If you do not include your student's name and if that name is not in the Hillcrest directory, I will simply delete the message. Sorry, it just has to be that way.

Places to start. The links below are to web sites that are excellent sources of ideas and approaches for both the beginning and seasoned Science Fair family.

An excellent place to start is the IPL: Science Fair Project Resource Guide. It contains a step-by-step approach to doing a Science Fair project. (By the way, IPL stands for Internet Public Library which is a wonderful resource for parents, teachers and especially children with the IPL KidSpace.)
Weber State University hosts the Utah state-wide Science Fair. Their web site has lots of good links, content and suggestions - including a page on building your display.

ScienzFair^TM Project Ideas is a web site that is loaded with detailed directions for doing a great diversity of projects.

The Home School learning network Science Fair site has a great set of links to how-to guides, primers, project ideas and more.
The Louisiana Science Fair web site has loads of links to science fair oriented materials, rules and ideas.
The Homework Spot has a good Science Fair Center that is full of ideas, general tips, suggested equipment suppliers and more.

More Detailed and Varied Resources:

The major manufacturer of computer chips, Intel, hosts a the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. They have a special web presence called Science Service. The Brookhaven National Laboratory has a nice set of links geared towards "Science for Kids" that has many ideas and experiments that could be used for Science Fair.
The Homework Spot has lots of fun science ideas and links at the elementary level. They have links to Bill Nye, Science Bob and other fun spots.
